2LDW / THE SMALL PRINT, MADE READABLE

Chrome extension privacy.

The 2LDW extension adds a summary button to YouTube. It sends a video to 2LDW only when you click.

Updated October 5, 2026

What the extension reads

It reads the current YouTube URL and checks the structure and visibility of the action controls to place its button. When you click, the extension opens the selected video’s transcript panel and reads the available caption text, title, channel and player duration. It does not read comments, account details, cookies or browsing history from other websites. It contains no advertising or analytics code.

What happens when you click

The extension sends the video ID and, when a complete supported transcript panel is available, its text and metadata to 2LDW. Version 1.1.1 includes the player’s video length for display on the summary page. Unsupported or incomplete panels use the normal video-link flow. Playlist IDs, tracking parameters and search terms are not sent.

Transcript text is never put in a URL, browser storage, extension log or local file. A bundled background worker holds it in memory for a single-use transfer to the new 2LDW tab. The transfer expires after two minutes and may be lost sooner if the worker or browser restarts. Only the video ID and a random temporary transfer token appear in the URL fragment; the receiving page removes them immediately. The receiving extension script runs only on https://2ldw.com/start/*.

The handoff page omits analytics and submits through the normal summary endpoint after Cloudflare verification. Request limits and queue capacity still apply. If the transfer expires, return to YouTube and click again.

Website and provider processing

Website requests include your network address and browser request metadata. Cloudflare processes this information for traffic protection and verification. Browser-provided transcripts and metadata are labeled and not independently verified against the video. When no browser transcript is supplied, the private processing worker tries to retrieve available captions directly.

Full validated source is saved in a private database cache before analysis and sent to OpenAI through the existing summary service. The cache supports retries and follow-up analysis, includes same-server backups, and keeps browser/reader sources separate from worker-retrieved captions. Raw transcripts are not public. Summaries, video IDs, titles and channel names are public, appear in the library, and can be indexed by search engines. AI output can contain mistakes.

The 2LDW privacy policy explains provider processing, retention, backups and ordinary website analytics. The extension itself does not track your activity.

Limited use

2LDW’s use of data received through this extension follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used to provide, secure, maintain and improve the requested summary service. It is not sold, used for personalized advertising, used to determine creditworthiness, or transferred for unrelated purposes. Transfers to service providers are limited to supporting this functionality, security, or legal requirements.

Access to non-public request data is limited to service operation and the policy’s permitted cases, such as security investigations, legal requirements or your specific consent. Public summaries remain readable by everyone.

Your choices

Only submit content you are entitled to have processed. Do not submit private or sensitive content. You can remove the extension at chrome://extensions; it has no stored extension data to delete. Removing it does not remove public summaries already created on 2LDW. You can also use the website without installing the extension.
